Along Came Ra was a 3-day celebration Of all things Sun Ra on the 30th anniversary of the 1984 Halloween Cosmic Costume Ball at the Old Post Office Pavilion in Washington, DC. I photographed the 1984 costume contest winner then and it was incorporated into the ads and flyers for the weekend. The weekend featured the Sun Ra Arkestra concert Halloween night, with special guest Bernie Worrell. There was a street parade with costumes and musicians, and Januwa Moja's fashion show with the Arkestra jamming Space Is The Place while the ladies strutted across the stage. My photos were be exhibited at the Pop-Up Museum, where Marshall Allen, Danny Thompson, Januwa, and Bill Warrell delivered the artist's talk, moderated by Dr. Thomas Stanley. Sunday night, a group from the Burnt Sugar Arkestra presented an entire program of Sun Ra's music at Liv, upstairs from the Bohemian Caverns.
